Great Expectations or Delusions of Grandure

Okay, I really thought I was going to be able to post every week. Here it is May already, and when was my last post? MARCH?! Crazy!

I suppose the best I can hope for is a once-a-month update of what our crazy household is up to. And it helps if we had a camera. Yup. No digital camera yet. Cam says "soon". Ok.

Anyway, an update on our latest events...

Easter Dinner was a nice little gathering with both Cam's and my family. His two siblings and their families had previous engagements with their respective in-laws, but we happily entertained his mom, niece Jessica and her sweetie Valter. My sister Edna joined us too! We had ham, potatoes, veggie stir-fry, fried rice, and salad... oh, with fresh fruit or mint chocolate chips on Breyer's Natural Vanilla Ice Cream for dessert.

The weather's warmer, and we're all enjoying the sunshine. Luc's in mini-soccer every Monday and Wednesday, which he loves. His classmates (Genevieve, Andy, Adam, Liam, and Tiagh) and other buddies (Jack and Grace) are also on teams that he gets to play against. I also get to hang out with their moms who also happen to be my own buddies.
It's all really cute with these kids running around, with very little skill and not really knowing what they're supposed to be doing in the first place. Luc keeps getting distracted by the girls in his team, and when his coach shouts out his instructions or encouragement, Luc actually stops to listen. Not a good thing when you're the one with the ball! So much like his father...

After years of putting up with long hair, I decided to take the plunge and get a bob. For years, when I told Cam that I wanted a shorter cut, he'd say, "You'll regret it!", but this time around, he surprised me by saying, "It'll be a nice change." So before he could change his mind and talk me out of it, I went and did it. When he saw me, he said it was like having a whole new wife. At first, I thought I had a Nicole Richie thing happening, but my faithful girlfriends said that it was more like Renee Russo in the Thomas Crown Affair, so I was happy.
Miranda and I look even more alike now with our matching bobs. :)
But I'm thinking of growing it a little longer... man, am I ever fickle...

Last Thursday, my sister and I dumped our husbands for a night to watch a movie replete with half-naked, well-formed males gracefully clobbering each other with shields, spears and swords. Yup, we watched '300'. Definitely eye-candy! Not just for the naked males (although I was once again reminded why Gerry Butler is on the top of my Top 10 list), but also for the fabulous effects. The whole movie was filmed against green and blue screens, the fight scenes (although graphic) were very elegant and gracefully performed by the actors, and the storytellers were able to stretch a battle out to 2 hours without boring us to tears. There were some not-really-all-that-great bits, but on the whole, I'd recommend it.
