Just when I thought I was used to my husband's sleep eccentricities, I now find that I have to deal with those of our offspring.
A few weeks back, after a long day out at the mall with her brother, mommy and aunt, Miranda fell asleep on the couch while watching her favourite episode of Toupie & Binoo. From the diningroom table, something caught hubby's attention, and when I asked why he was laughing, he quickly pointed to our sleeping daughter. She appeared to be plucking things from mid-air and daintily putting it in her mouth and chewing! We think it was fries. She loves fries. And she happen to eating her favourite food at the mall earlier that day.
This is reminicent of my husband's tendency to act out in his sleep-state what he was doing during his awake-state. He woke me one night patting me down. "What are you doing?" I asked sleepily. "I'm looking for my amulet," he replied in a clear voice. "What amulet?" In a frustrated voice, "the one that looks like this one", and he reached for the non-existent amulet at his throat. "Oh, nevermind..." he curled up and went back to sleep.
A couple of nights later, Luc, who was cuddled close to his daddy in our family bed, jolted and woke his father up with a start. When Daddy asked what happened, Luc whispered, "I had a dream that I was upstairs looking down at Miranda, Mommy, Daddy, and me, and we were all sleeping. So, I jumped down back into me again and waked up!"
I wonder when he'll be flying in his dreams like his Daddy does...
